Departments

The Town of Talty is a Type A, General Law City with a Mayor/Alderman form of Government.  The Town has a Mayor and five (5) Alderman.  The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the Town.  The Mayor shall preside at all meetings of the governing body and, except in elections, may vote only if there is a tie.

Builder’s can get next day inspections by calling the office before the office closes at noon each day.  Also builders may call after noon and leave a message on the office recorder and the inspection will be scheduled for that work day.

All sub-contractors must register with the Town to do work in Talty.  The cost is $100 per year.

MUNICIPAL COURT

The telephone number for Municipal Court is 972-552-9592, the FAX number is 972-552-9060.  The office is at 9550 Helms Trail, Suite 500.  Mitzi Wilson is the Court Clerk.

Violators have eleven (11) days from the date of the ticket
 to enter a written plea.  The court only accepts cash or money orders.  Defendants may contact the court between 8 am and 12 pm, Monday thru Friday to speak with the clerk regarding disposition options set out by the Judge.  Generally the Judge holds court on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of each month if your case is put on the docket.  Court is held at the Sub-County Courthouse, 200 East Main Street, Forney, Texas.         

VOTING

Voting for town elections are held by Kaufman County on behalf of the citizens of Talty at the Talty Baptist Church, 5210 N. FM 148.  The Church is location on FM 148 about ¼ mile south of intersection of FM 2932.

PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION

The Planning and Zoning Commission shall be responsible for the development and implementation of plan for the future growth and the development and redevelopment of the Town.  The Commission shall also be responsible for the review and consideration and recommendation for approval or rejection to the Board of Aldermen of all development plans and proposals, zoning requests, subdivision plats and replats, site plans and zoning regulations and ordinances.  The Commission shall further be responsible for the review and consideration of the adoption, updating, and revision of land use assumptions.
